Brown Girl Values

Brown Girl Recovery is rooted in Gender Justice, Black Feminism, Community Accountability, Healing Justice
& Collective Liberation

Brown Girl Recovery (BGR) is a Black and queer-led organization founded in 2017 that creates grassroots healing spaces for Black and Brown community members living in the Bronx and northern Manhattan. Through the facilitation of innovative social justice programming and events, we primarily serve community members who are marginalized and ousted from traditional models of care through peer-to-peer counseling support, ancestral healing circles, and comprehensive healing & social justice education.

Vision

We envision a strategic and united network of Black and Brown womxn committed to creating community, love and healing in their local neighborhoods. We envision the Bronx, Washington Heights and Harlem as sites of intentional love and healing for its community members. Systemically, our goal is to eradicate the medical-industrial complex to focus primarily on gender expansive care, recognizing the social determinants of health, including mass incarceration, racism, and lack of adequate reproductive health education or care.
